"L'intimité entre l'auditoire et les musiciens est la chose la plus importante, autant pour les architectes que pour nous", explique l'acousticien Tateo Nakajima. "Le bois est la composante qui unifie l'ensemble... le hêtre avec ses couleurs chaudes de miel donne un aspect de proximité," souligne l'architecte Jack Diamond.
"The intimacy between the audience and the musicians is the most important thing, both for architects and for us," said the acoustics Tateo Nakajima. "Wood is the component that unifies all ... beech with its warm colors of honey gives a sense of closeness," said architect Jack Diamond.

Tateo Nakajima, le principal architecte sonore de la Maison symphonique, arpentait encore la salle, hier, et a écouté une bonne partie du programme à la corbeille. Peut-être en testait-il encore l'acoustique de ses oreilles expertes. Le profane, lui, ne trouve rien à redire sur ce plan. La musique voyage avec un naturel réjouissant dans cet élégant écrin de bois et la proximité avec l'orchestre est tout à fait stupéfiante. Et ça, parions que même les enfants l'ont ressenti. . .
