


Michael Parrella is a consultant specializing in Facility Planning. He has a background in technical theatre involving scenery construction and technical management. His production experience has included work in theatre, opera, circus and commercial scenery production shops. He has been a theatre planning consultant since 2000.
Michael specializes in the design and layout of rigging systems both for production use and adjustable acoustic treatments. His broad experience as a theatre planner has involved him in viability reviews of existing historic facilities, space programming for theatre renovations and new construction, initial facility layout, planning, coordination and project management throughout the design and construction processes of the projects he has worked on.
Prior to rejoining Artec, Michael spent 5 years working closely with theatre planning specialist, Roger Morgan of Sachs Morgan Studio. During this time he worked on a variety of projects including Montgomery County Community College in Takoma Park, MD; The renovation of Temple Emanu-El in New York City, NY; The Granada Theatre in Santa Barbara, CA; The renovation of the Opera house, The Eisenhower Theatre and Family Theatre at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.; Nederlander Theater in New York City, NY; The Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, CT; and New World Stages in New York City, NY.
Michael received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Technical Production from Boston University’s School for the Arts. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Technical Design and Production from Yale University’s School of Drama.
Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter. He is a regular practitioner of Aikido and an admirer of the 19th century progressive American economist, Henry George.
