Kelly's
Projects Experience
Kelly Aston is a consultant with a background in engineering, acoustics,
and music. Ms. Aston's career in acoustics is fueled by her passion
for music. She is skilled at the piano and the violin, and has been
involved in musical theater, chorus, and choir. She has experienced
a variety of musical venues, with audience capacities ranging from
under fifty to over fifty thousand. Her work with Artec is inspired
by her desire to optimize the atmosphere in musical settings and
enhance the enjoyment of music.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Maryland, she worked as a Mechanical
Engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Connecticut. Ms. Aston
developed her acoustics skills by working on the Mount Sinai Crystal
Ball Project with SIA Acoustics in New York City.
Prior to joining Artec,
Ms. Aston was an acoustical consultant with Metropolitan Acoustics
in Philadelphia. At Metropolitan Acoustics, she worked on interior
room acoustics, acoustical isolation, and mechanical systems noise
and vibration control. Her projects included participation in the
design of churches, theaters, and small performance spaces.
Ms. Aston is also a current member of the Acoustical
Society of America (ASA).
