Brodbeck Concert Hall is the main performance venue of The Center for the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The Center was designed to be the home of the music program, which offers degrees in music and music education, and the theatre program. During each summer, the theatre department operates a professional Shakespeare festival. The Center includes Brodbeck Concert Hall, a flexible theater, instrumental and vocal rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, and small production support shops and storage areas.
Brodbeck Concert Hall is a 565-seat concert theatre that can be changed from concert mode to proscenium theatre mode, with hard or soft masking, in a very short time, and with minimum labor. There is a hydraulic orchestra pit lift that also serves as an extension to the platform in the event small audiences are anticipated, when recordings require greater spacing on the platform, or when additional space is required to stage presentations with extra-large groups.
Like Artec's other concert theatres, this very inexpensive facility is designed to promote both the flexibility needed for a multi-purpose venue, as well as superior acoustics for music performances of all types.
Artec provided Design and Planning services covering Pre-Design Phase services, Auditorium Design, Background Noise and Vibration Control and Facility Planning consulting services for the center. The architect was William Wenzler.
