Fleck Dance Theatre, a state-of-the-art facility designed specifically for performance of contemporary dance, has a seating capacity of 450. The 23,000 square foot theater was carved out of the third through sixth floors of the warehouse building. The seating is on two steeply-raked tiers and features excellent sightlines and a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Fleck Dance Theatre is housed within Queen's Quay Terminal. The development of the Terminal, from an aging one million square foot warehouse into a shopping mall/office/condominium complex, was one of the first steps taken in this massive urban renewal effort undertaken by Harbourfront Corporation, with the support of the Canadian Federal government. The terminal opened in 1983.
In addition, the theater accommodates film, drama, opera, chamber music, and mime presentations. The acoustics of the room are also designed for many small-scale music events such as recitals, chamber orchestras, and jazz groups. The room is frequently used by the Canadian Broadcasting Company for recordings and broadcasts.
