Rhythmic Hall, North Jutland House of Music, Aalborg

The Rhythmic Hall of the North Jutland House of Music complex in Aalborg, Denmark will be a flexible (Multi-Purpose) hall. This flat-floored space is one of five performance venues within this performance, rehearsal, and educational facility. Construction began on the 16,000 m2 facility in Fall 2005, with an anticipated opening in 2012. It will be the largest facility of its type in the North Jutland region of Denmark and will become the home of Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Academy of Music, Aalborg Department of Music and Music Therapy (Aalborg University) and Department of Architecture and Design (Aalborg University).

The Rhythmic Hall can accommodate up to 250 patrons on one level in a variety of seating configurations, limited only by the imagination of the users. A system of permanent catwalks provides accommodation for production lighting; a trolley rigging system allows for flexibility of rigging and suspension of theatrical goods, scenery, and audio systems. Variable acoustics features include motorized drapery systems to selectively change the texture of wall surfaces in the hall.

The Rhythmic Hall can accommodate a wide range of performance types, from theatrical events, to musical activities of all types, banquets, and meetings. It can also serve as a large rehearsal facility for large orchestras and a recording facility for film scores.

Artec provides design and planning services covering Auditorium Design, Facility Planning, Specialized Performance Equipment Systems Design and Background Noise and Vibration Control consulting for the North Jutland House of Music. The architect for the facility is Coop-Himmelb(l)au, of Vienna.
