Royal Bank Theatre is the smaller performing space in The Living Arts Centre, which opened its doors to the public in 1997. The Centre is home to various performance and visual arts facility for the community of Mississauga. Hammerson Hall, rehearsal spaces, a cinema theater, and complete backstage facilities support touring and local performance groups, while a separate wing of the building contains visual and sculptural arts, broadcasting, and photography workshops and studios for community access.
Royal Bank accommodates up to 400 patrons and can be adapted to multiple uses. As a performance space, the theater can be set up with traditional style seating, as a theater "in-the-round", or for cabaret type performances. Seating can also be configured to suit a seminar or lecture. When the theater seats are retracted, the room provides a dramatic and intimate events setting for social functions, such as banquets or weddings. With state-of-the-art lighting and sound, this venue has the ability to create the perfect atmosphere for any event.
The Centre serves as a home to dozens of amateur and professional arts organizations as well as community theater. Centre programming includes a range of performances, workshops, camps, and courses.
