Part of Harbourfront Centre, the Harbourfront Centre Theatre is a 450-seat flat-floor facility created out of a former icehouse in 1986. An intimate space from both acoustic and visual viewpoints, the theater accommodates speech, jazz, and chamber music with equal ability, as well as amplified speech and music. Both cabaret performances and "Brunch with Bach" work well here. The performance area can be set up to the side, end, or middle of the space, with seats on the flat or on risers. The space has become the home of Toronto's French-speaking theatre company, and has also frequently been used for chamber music and concert performances by Nexus, Canada's renowned percussion ensemble, as well as a broad range of other events.
Harbourfront Centre stretches over several city blocks on Toronto's waterfront. The Centre includes Fleck Dance Theatre, Harbourfront Centre Theatre, studios, galleries, pier terminal, offices, marketplace, parks, cafés, and restaurants.
